CK-19 Quantification Kit

The development of distant metastases is the primary cause of death in patients with serious malignancies such as breast cancer. An intermediate filament protein called cytokeratin-19 (CK-19) is a useful marker to detect occult tumor cells. The MEDEXIS Cytokeratin-19 Kit employs proprietary reagents and Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) technology to detect the CK-19 marker in a wide range of biological samples.

The product has been approved as an In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) kit (bearing a CE-Mark) for the detection of Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs)in peripheral blood of breast cancer patients.

Commercialization rights have been licensed to PNG Gerolymatos SA (Alapis Group). The product will be commercially available at late Q4 2009.
